History: Over 2014, it remains evident that professionals, families, and individuals in Sheboygan County care deeply about our community's mental health and substance abuse treatment, services, and prevention efforts in our community. In March 2014, a successful Community Conversation event was held in which many community members stepped up to join together to address some of the top areas of need identified including Education, Access, and Coordination of Care. CATs, or Community Action Teams, were developed to address these areas. All the while, many of those same people and other long-time committed community members and professionals were successfully involved in Healthy Sheboygan County's Mental Health and ATODA committees addressing many of the same community needs.
While these efforts have made great impact, through thoughtful consideration from leadership represented among all the committees mentioned above, it was determined to bring together these groups and form one cohesive committee to narrow in our efforts on systemic changes and collective impact to help HSC 2020's overall mission 'To improve the health of the people of Sheboygan County leading to a community with "Everyone Living Better, Longer", with this newly combined committee addressing mental health and substance abuse in the community.
Join Us! Please join us! Help us to collectively and strategically address mental health, illness, and substance abuse prevention and services in our community, especially that around implementing:
- SBIRT
- Heroin Prevention & Treatment
- Stigma Reduction
We need your help to do this! Join us at this our meeting to learn about the draft Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) and how we each play a part! We look forward to the combined efforts, ultimately strengthening our outcomes.
Warmest regards,
Kate Baer and Libby Holte
